Metropolitan Transportation Commission resolution 3434 of July 27, 2005, sets the policy that there should be least 3,850 dwelling units within a half-mile of every BART station. U.S. Census maps show that there are already between 4000 and 5300 dwelling units within a half-mile of the west entrance to Ashby BART. (These figures likely exclude many illegally constructed apartments such as inlaw units and converted garages.)
The grant application "project area" (red border) is bounded by California, Stuart, Fulton, and the Berkeley-Oakland border (list of addresses).
The project area overlaps two Berkeley area plans.
